Privacy Policy
This revision is a draft prepared for Colnago USA’s approval. It describes what the rebuilt website actually records, which the previous version predates.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Colnago USA (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). Your privacy is important to us, and this Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website (www.colnago-usa.com) and interact with our services, including the yacht configurator.
2. Information We Collect
What you give us:
- Your name, email address, and, if you choose to give them, your telephone number and country
- Anything you write to us in an enquiry or a message
- The specification you build in the configurator when you send it to us: model, colours, finishes, propulsion, options, the indicative total and the link that reopens it
- Your email address and consent if you join the mailing list
What the website records as you use it:
- Your cookie choice, the exact wording you agreed to, and the date you chose it
- A one-time code we email you to confirm your address, stored only as a one-way hash, and a private link to your own saved builds
- The page you sent an enquiry from, your browser description, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address used to limit abuse. We do not keep the IP address itself
Configuring a yacht records nothing. A build stays in your own browser until you choose to send it to us.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quotation
- To confirm that the email address given is yours, and to send you a private link back to the builds you have sent us
- To send you marketing emails and updates, where you have asked for them
- To keep a record of the consents you have given, which is the only way we can show what you agreed to and when
- To improve the website and to protect it from abuse
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use your build to advertise to you elsewhere.
4. Confirming Your Address, and Your Saved Builds
When you send us a build we email you a six-digit code and a link. Using either one confirms that the address is yours and opens a private page listing the builds you have sent. There is no account and no password: the link itself is the key, so treat it as private. Anyone you forward it to can see those builds. Tell us and we will retire it.
You do not have to confirm anything. Your enquiry reaches the US team either way.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Nothing beyond what the website needs to work is set unless you turn it on. The banner on your first visit lets you accept everything, keep to what is necessary, or choose category by category, and you can change your mind at any time through Cookie settings in the footer. We keep a record of each choice, including the wording shown to you at the time, so that both sides can see what was agreed.
6. Who Else Handles Your Information
We use a small number of service providers, who act on our instructions and for no purpose of their own:
- Cloudflare hosts the website, stores enquiries and builds, and provides the anti-abuse check on our forms
- Resend delivers the emails we send you, including the confirmation code
We may also share information where the law requires it.
7. How Long We Keep It
- Enquiries, messages and builds: while we are in touch about the boat, and for up to seven years afterwards as a business record
- Confirmation codes: they stop working after 24 hours
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe, after which we keep a record that you did
- Cookie choices: two years, or until you change them
8. SMS & Messaging Terms
If you use our Services to send SMS messages or use messaging platforms:
Users must opt-in to receive messages. All opt-in data and consent must be verifiable. You must include opt-out language such as “Reply STOP to unsubscribe” in marketing messages. Message frequency must match the disclosures provided at the point of opt-in. “Message and data rates may apply” must be disclosed.
We do not guarantee message delivery, and carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
9. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. Data Protection & Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Confirmation codes are stored hashed rather than as the digits themselves, and IP addresses are hashed rather than kept. However, no online transmission is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Rights & Choices
You may:
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails
- Ask us to retire the private link to your builds, or to delete the builds themselves
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at info@colnago-usa.com
Unsubscribing from the mailing list does not delete an enquiry you have sent us, because the two are kept separately. Ask and we will remove both.
12. Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated Effective Date.
